Moved By The Wind
🌬️ Moved by the Wind: A Devotional on John 3:8
Scripture:
“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” — John 3:8 (NIV)
đź’ Reflection:
Have you ever stood outside on a breezy day and tried to predict which way the wind would blow next? It’s impossible. You can feel it brushing against your skin and see its effects in the rustling leaves of the trees, but you can’t grab hold of it or direct its course.
This is how Jesus describes the work of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit doesn’t move according to our expectations or timelines. He moves in unseen, unpredictable ways—calling hearts to repentance, bringing dead things to life, and shaping souls for God’s purposes.
As humans, we often try to replicate the work of the Spirit—through formulas, routines, or emotional experiences—but He cannot be replicated. His work is divine, holy, and completely beyond our ability to manufacture. What God does by His Spirit is real, lasting, and full of power—far beyond anything we can imitate.
Being "born of the Spirit" means surrendering to that mysterious, life-giving movement of God. It’s not about managing behavior or memorizing rules. It’s about being transformed from the inside out by the power of the Holy Spirit. Just like the wind, we may not fully understand how He works, but the evidence is undeniable in a changed life.
If you’ve ever felt overlooked or spiritually stuck, remember this: the Spirit of God is not bound by human limitations. He knows exactly how to reach you. And when He does, He doesn’t just modify your behavior—He changes your heart.
Let go of control. Lean into Him and Let the Spirit lead.
🙏 Prayer:
Lord, I confess that I don’t always understand how You work in my life and that can be uncomfortable. Sometimes I want answers and direction before I’m willing to move. But today, I surrender my need for control. I ask that Your Holy Spirit would move freely in me—bringing life, change, and growth that only You can produce. Help me to trust You, even when I can't see what You're doing. Teach me to live by faith and walk by the wind of Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
