Fully Redeemed — Freedom in Christ for Body, Soul, and Spirit
Written by Rylan Isabella Wicker
“Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:23 (ESV)
Jesus didn’t die to halfway redeem us.
He didn’t hang on the cross, bleed, die, rise again, and send the Holy Spirit just so we could still be filled with demons and live in bondage.
If you are in Christ, you are fully redeemed—body, soul, and spirit. The process of sanctification may take time, but the authority of Jesus is immediate. His blood doesn’t just cover sin—it breaks chains.
Yes, we still face battles in the flesh. Yes, the enemy still tempts, lies, and accuses. But Scripture is clear:
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” — John 8:36 (ESV)
“For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? ... Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God.” — 2 Corinthians 6:14–16 (ESV)
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” — 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (ESV)
The Holy Spirit doesn’t share space with demons. Light has no fellowship with darkness. You are the temple of the living God.
So no—believers are not demon-possessed.
Jesus didn’t make you a haunted house.
He made you a dwelling place of glory.
But here’s something important: the enemy still tempts, accuses, and deceives. And he looks for ways to gain influence—not possession, but oppression. The enemy gains access through doors we open—whether it’s through unrepented sin, agreeing with lies, or patterns of brokenness passed down through family.
When we talk about “generational strongholds,” we don’t mean spiritual curses that override salvation. Scripture is clear:
“And you, who were dead in your trespasses... God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.” — Colossians 2:13–15 (ESV)
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)
You don’t need to perform rituals or bloodline renunciations to be free. Jesus already paid for your complete redemption. But if you’ve agreed with lies, or allowed sin to take root, it’s important to bring that into the light and walk in repentance.
😩 if You’re Struggling or Feeling Oppressed:
Go to Jesus in prayer. He is near to the brokenhearted and delivers those who cry out to Him.
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 (ESV)
Confess and turn from any known sin.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” — 1 John 1:9 (ESV)
Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you afresh.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” — James 4:7 (ESV)
Stand in your authority as a child of God.
“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.” — Luke 10:19 (ESV)

🪞Reflection:
Jesus did not set you free so you could live in fear or spiritual confusion. He didn’t offer partial redemption. He came to make you whole—body, soul, and spirit. While the process of healing and sanctification takes time, your salvation and authority in Him are finished and secure. Don’t let anyone convince you that you need more than Jesus to be free. He is enough.
🙏🏼 prayer:
Jesus, thank You for Your complete and finished work on the cross. Thank You that I am fully redeemed—body, soul, and spirit—because of Your love. Lord, if there are any lies I’ve believed or sins I’ve clung to, please bring them into the light so I can walk in freedom. I don’t want to live in fear or confusion—I want to live in Your truth. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and help me remember who I am: a new creation, set apart and kept by Your grace. In Your name, Amen.
