🗑️ He Turned Around for Me
A Devotional by Rylan Isabella Wicker
đź“– Scripture
“The Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.”
— Isaiah 30:18 (NIV)
🪟 Real-Life Moment
This morning, we forgot to set the trash out. By the time I realized it, the trash man had already passed our house. I ran outside and saw the truck several houses down. Still, I grabbed our trash can and wheeled it to the curb, hoping—somehow—that he might notice.
To my surprise, the driver stopped, backed up, and came all the way back to get our trash. I thanked him sincerely, but as I turned to walk back inside, I felt the Lord impress something on my heart:
“I did that to show you something.”
✨ Reflection
As I stood there, holding an empty trash can and feeling seen in an unexpected way, I realized this was more than a random act of kindness—it was a holy moment. Here's what God showed me:
Sometimes we miss the moment. We forget, we’re late, we fall short. But God is not limited by time or routine. He is full of mercy, and He can come back around.
Faith moves forward, even when it looks foolish. I didn’t know what would happen, but I carried the trash can out anyway. That simple act became a picture of obedience—of showing up even when it feels pointless.
God sees what others pass by. He saw me. He sees you. Your tears, your prayers, your efforts—He doesn’t ignore them. Even when it feels like you’ve been forgotten, He notices.
God is willing to take what we’re willing to release. Whether it’s guilt, fear, failure, grief, or delay, when we bring it to Him—He handles it. He lifts the weight we weren’t meant to carry.
Even when I feel behind, disqualified, or like I missed something God had for me… He reminds me:
“I turn around for my children.”
🙏 Prayer
Lord, thank You for meeting me in the small, ordinary places and using them to speak truth to my heart. Thank You for being a God who turns around, who sees me, and who carries away what I can’t. Teach me to walk in faith even when I don’t see the outcome, and to trust You with my mistakes, delays, and burdens. I believe You redeem what feels too late. You are compassionate, merciful, and always on time—even when I’m not. Amen.
